Boarding from Year 3 for the very small number of pupils who board. All are full boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is the junior division of The King’s School Ely, an all-through school to age 18. King’s Ely, Junior School and Acremont fees range from £4,366 (Rec) to £6,924 per term (2024/25). Full boarding fees range from £9,745 to £10,436 per term. Fees exclude VAT but include lunches.

Average class size

King’s Ely, Junior School and Acremont has two classes per year to Year 2, three from Year 3, four from Year 6, and an average class size of 16 pupils.

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum. It is thematic to Year 5, linking humanities, English, science, music, art, drama, and DT within a ‘creative curriculum’. The curriculum also includes PSHE, French, Spanish, German, Latin. The school addresses character education by promoting the ‘Learning Habits’ of resilience, creativity and curiosity, collaboration, and reflection. Each pupil may participate in over 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music and languages throughout, for science, drama, art, DT from Year 5, and for most subjects from Year 7.

Sport at King's Ely, Junior School and Acremont

School offers over 20 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and an extensive extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in golf.

The Arts at King's Ely, Junior School and Acremont

School educates the boy and girl choristers of Ely Cathedral. Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and nearly all take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. There is a choir for each year group and over 10 instrument ensembles. The Chamber choir, concert band and jazz band tour overseas. The school offers each pupil over 5 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 8.00am to 6.00pm at Acremont, 7.15am to 7.30pm at the Junior School. Occasional boarding facility.
