The Akiva School curriculum

A Progressive Jewish school, supported by Liberal, Reform and Masorti movements. The secular (Chol) curriculum is guided by the National Curriculum. Jewish Studies curriculum (Kodesh) is integrated with the secular curriculum. An accredited Thinking School. The curriculum also includes PSHE, philosophy, Modern Hebrew. The school offers each child a handful of extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs. In recent years the school has enjoyed national tournament success in chess.

Most lessons are taught by the class teacher with specialist teaching for music.

Sport at Akiva School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Akiva School

Art and music are taught as discrete subjects to all pupils. DT, drama, dance integrated into other subjects. Choir and orchestra. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

School day runs from 8.45am to 3.15pm or 3.45pm depending on age. Clubs can extend the day to 5.00pm.
