School fundamentals

Aldro School is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (70%/30%) between the ages of 7 and 13 years. The school turned co-ed in September 2021. Boarding from Year 3 for the 30% of pupils who board. 10% are full boarders and 90% are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has an academically selective admissions policy. It is a standalone prep school, not tied to any one senior school. Aldro School fees range from £8,494 (Rec) to £9,858 per term (2025/26). Full boarding fees are £15,000 per term. Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

Aldro School has two classes per year rising to three and an average class size of 16 pupils.

Leavers' destinations

Destinations for Aldro School leavers are one of 25 mainly boarding schools. On average, 30% of pupils go on to Charterhouse, and 10% go on to each of Cranleigh, Tonbridge School and Wellington College. 40% win awards and scholarships.

The Aldro School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHE, French, Latin, Greek. In Years 7 and 8 the school teaches a more skills based curriculum, the Aldro Baccalaureate, alongside the core ISEB curriculum subjects (maths, English, science) and/or senior school entrance curricula. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs. In recent years the school has enjoyed national tournament success in chess.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 7.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for music, art, languages, computing, drama and sport throughout, for all subjects except for English and maths from Year 3, and for all subjects from Year 5.

Sport at Aldro School

School offers over 20 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and an extensive extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in athletics, rugby, rugby 7s, shooting.

The Arts at Aldro School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and nearly all take extra-curricular instrument lessons. Three choirs, two orchestras and several instrument ensembles. The school offers each pupil over 5 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
