The Barnes Primary School curriculum

School curriculum also includes PSHE, French. Most subjects are taught separately, referencing a termly theme which combines geography, history, art and DT. There is also a termly Theme Week to develop project skills. The school offers each child a handful of extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Most lessons are taught by the class teacher with specialist teaching for music and sport throughout and for art and languages from Year 3.

Sport at Barnes Primary School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in table tennis.

The Arts at Barnes Primary School

There is provision for music, art, DT, drama, and dance, either as a standalone subject or as part of a theme. There is an Artist in Residence, an annual Arts Week and a Film Making Week. Artsmark Gold accreditation. Choir and orchestra. Each pupil may participate in up to 10 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Out of school hours care from 7.45am to 6.15pm provided by an external contractor.
