Framlingham College Prep School is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (60%/40%) between the ages of 2.5 and 13 years. Boarding from Year 3 for the very small number of pupils who board. 20% are full boarders and 80% are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has an academically selective admissions policy from Year 3. It is the prep school to Framlingham College, an all-through school to age 18. Framlingham College Prep School fees range from £3,904 (Rec) to £7,644 per term (2025/26). Full boarding fees range from £9,838 to £11,832 per term. Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

The Framlingham College Prep School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and also includes PSHE, French. There is a rebalancing of the curriculum towards more skills and application of knowledge. Pre-prep pupils already learn through cross-curricular topics. Years 7 and 8 have a thematic curriculum exploring a major theme per term such as innovation, the natural world, identity. They also have a self-directed Extended Project. Each pupil may participate in over 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers, Forest School in pre-prep and residential trips from Year 4.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music, and languages throughout, for art, drama, and computing from Year 3 and for most subjects from Year 6.

Sport at Framlingham College Prep School

School offers over 20 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and an extensive extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in athletics, hockey, tennis.

The Arts at Framlingham College Prep School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and two-thirds take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. The school is one of the top 50 UK prep schools for the breadth of its creative and performing arts extra-curriculum. Artsmark Gold accreditation.
