The Hymers College Junior School curriculum

The school offers each child a handful of extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs. In recent years the school has enjoyed national tournament success in chess.

Sport at Hymers College Junior School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in swimming.

The Arts at Hymers College Junior School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Curricular drama from Year 5. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs (with 70% participation) and several instrument ensembles. The choir has a strong track record in national choral competitions. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
