The Notting Hill Preparatory School curriculum

School curriculum follows the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum. It also includes PSHCE, philosophy, French, Latin, Greek. The school is an accredited ‘Advanced Thinking School’ and promotes higher order thinking strategies with its ‘NHP Thinking Skills Toolbox’. The toolbox includes De Bono’s ‘Six Thinking Hats’ and ‘Habits of Mind’, thinking maps, questioning techniques, graphic organisers, and Bloom’s taxonomy. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Sport at Notting Hill Preparatory School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Notting Hill Preparatory School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama is part of the co-curriculum. All pupils learn an instrument in class and two-thirds take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Four choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

There is no formal wraparound care. The school day is from 8.10/8.25am up to 3.15/3.45pm, though clubs can extend the day from 7.30am to 5.00pm.
