The Orchard House School curriculum

A creative, Montessori influenced curriculum to Year 2. Cross-curricular learning continues through to Year 6, especially with STEAM lessons. The school offers each child a handful of extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 3. The ‘Orchard House Challenge’ extends the co-curriculum for Years 4 to 6 with challenges in the arts, fitness, personal finance, outdoor adventure, domestic science, global community, and community service.

Specialist teachers for sport, music, computing and languages throughout, and for art and science from Year 3.

Sport at Orchard House School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Orchard House School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama is part of the co-curriculum. All pupils learn an instrument in class and nearly all take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Four pupil choirs, an orchestra, and several instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Significant development

The school will undergo considerable redevelopment and merger, with Chiswick & Bedford Park Preparatory School, leading to an enhanced 3 form entry provision from September 2024.
