School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and emphasises Catholic social morality. It also includes PSHCEE, reasoning, French. Some thematic teaching based around the novel being read in English lessons. The school offers each child a handful of extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs. In recent years the school has enjoyed national tournament success in maths.

The Arts at St Bernard's Preparatory School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama is part of the co-curriculum. All pupils learn an instrument in class and about one third take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Choir and one or two instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
