The St Francis School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHE, French, Spanish, Latin. Throughout the school geography, history, religious studies, and computing are taught in a thematic, cross-curricular style. The aim is to develop thinking skills, initiative, and project skills. This continues in Years 7 and 8 when the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate includes a more skills-based humanities curriculum alongside the core ISEB curriculum subjects. The school offers each child a handful of extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers, Forest School for the youngest pupils and residential trips from Year 5.

Specialist teachers for sport, music and languages throughout, for art from Year 3, and for most subjects from Year 5.

Sport at St Francis School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in cross country.

The Arts at St Francis School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and one or two instrument ensembles. Each pupil may participate in up to 10 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 7.45am to 6.00pm. Minibus service. Nursery is open for 51 weeks of the year.
