Leavers' destination schools for the one quarter of Thomas's Battersea pupils who leave after Year 6 are one of 30 independent day schools. Of these 40% go to Alleyn's, JAGS, Francis Holland Schools, Godolphin & Latymer. Three quarters leave Thomas's Battersea Senior after Year 8 for one of 50 different day and boarding schools. 50% of these pupils go on to St Paul's, Alleyn's, King's College Wimbledon, Eton, Harrow, Brighton College, Wellington College, Bryanston, Dulwich College. 10-20% of pupils win awards and scholarships. Thomas's Battersea Square, extending Thomas' provision to age 16, opened in September 2021. In its first year it was the destination for one-sixth of 13+ leavers.
School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum with some additions and variations, and also includes PSHE, reasoning, French, Spanish, Latin, Greek. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.
Specialist teachers for sport, music, art, dance, drama, computing and languages throughout, and for all subjects from Year 6.
School seeks to blend traditional knowledge acquisition with developing pupil enquiry skills, self-awareness of learning habits, as well as character education. The 'Enquiry Mindset' curriculum features cross-curricular learning, particularly for humanities subjects (history, geography, religion, philosophy), and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, maths).
School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3.
Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Dance to Year 2. All pupils learn an instrument in class and two-thirds take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Four choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
There are regular educational trips for all year groups, and visiting speakers. Residential trips from Year 4. Thomas's Outdoor programme (Woodland Adventure/Young Explorers) for all pupils.
