School fundamentals

Truro High Prep School is an independent prep day and boarding school for girls between the ages of 4 and 11 years. Boarding from Year 3 for the 10% of pupils who board. 90% are full boarders and 10% are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is the prep school to Truro High School, an all-through school to age 18. Truro High Prep School fees range from £3,559 (Rec) to £6,187 per term (2025/26). Full boarding fees are £13,363 per term. Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

The Truro High Prep School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and also includes PSHEE, STEM, ‘Big Thinking’ (philosophy, critical thinking), French, Spanish, Latin. As part of the whole school mission to make girls ‘Future Ready’, the ‘Learn Challenge Curriculum’ promotes enquiry-based learning, and personal responsibility for learning. Homework, other than maths and English, is a long term ‘Curiosity Project’, a child-led enquiry-based research project. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 3 sometimes using the school’s Outdoor Learning Centre.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music and languages throughout, science from Year 5, and for most subjects in Year 6.

Sport at Truro High Prep School

School offers PE and up to 10 seasonal sports. Representative teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Truro High Prep School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama and dance from Year 5. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Choir and orchestra. The choir has a strong track record in national choral competitions. Each pupil may participate in up to 10 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 8.00am to 6.00pm. Facility for occasional boarding.
