The Wellington Junior School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and also includes PSHE, STEM Focus Fortnight, French. The school has an international perspective, and is part of the Comenius project, an EU funded school linking programme. It also has a British Council’s International School Award. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

The schools environmental education is recognised by an Eco Schools Green Flag accreditation. Outdoor learning for all pupils from P1 to P7 includes outdoor and beach lessons in P1 and P2, Mini Dukes in P2 and P3, Junior Dukes in P4, P5 and P6, and the John Muir Award in P7.

Sport at Wellington Junior School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Primary 3.

The Arts at Wellington Junior School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and two-thirds take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Primary 3. Choir, orchestra and some instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
