Yarm Preparatory School is an independent prep day school for boys and girls (50%/50%) between the ages of 2 and 11 years. It is a Christian school, open to all faiths and none. The school has an academically selective admissions policy. It is the prep school to Yarm School, an all-through school to age 18. Yarm Preparatory School fees range from £4,023 (Rec) to £5,663 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

The Yarm Preparatory School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum, with some variations, and also includes PSHE, reasoning, French. Cross-curricular topic-based teaching for all subjects other than maths and English in Pre-Prep. A weekly double enrichment period expands the Year 3 to 6 curriculum to include non-traditional subjects such as debating, Parkour, Yoga, enterprise, and STEM. Each pupil may participate in over 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 3. Outdoor learning is part of the curriculum; woodland sessions up to Year 2 and Woodland Weeks for each Years 3 to 6. School also participates in the Eco Schools programme and has Green Flag Status. The Yarm Prep Baccalaureate encourages participation in the extra-curricular.

Sport at Yarm Preparatory School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Yarm Preparatory School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama is part of the co-curriculum. All pupils learn an instrument in class and two-thirds take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Six choirs, 2 string orchestras and 15 instrument ensembles. The school is one of the top 50 UK prep schools for the breadth of its creative and performing arts extra-curriculum.
