Ardvreck School is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (60%/40%) between the ages of 3 and 13 years. Boarding from Year 3 for the 40% of pupils who board. 60% are full boarders and 40% are weekly or flexi boarders. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is a standalone prep school, not tied to any one senior school. Ardvreck School fees range from £3,520 (Rec) to £7,370 per term (2024/25). Full boarding fees are £11,070 per term. Fees exclude VAT and lunches.

The Ardvreck School curriculum

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips in P7 and S1. Outdoor activities are a major feature of the school’s curriculum including; Forest School to P2, ‘Barvicks’ (day expeditions for the whole school from P3 to S1 for 4 or 8 Saturdays per year), the Ard Challenge for P7/S1 pupils and their parents and the Leadership Challenge residential for S1 pupils.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for music, art, languages, science and sport throughout, and for most subjects from Primary 6.

Sport at Ardvreck School

Five Games sessions per week. School is one of the 50 prep schools with the most extensive sports offers in the UK. Representative teams in major sports from Primary 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in shooting.

The Arts at Ardvreck School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama is part of the co-curriculum. All pupils learn an instrument in class and three-quarters take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Primary 3. Two choirs, orchestra and some instrument ensembles, including the largest prep school pipe band in Scotland. Each pupil may participate in up to 10 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 8.30am to 6.00pm. Minibus service. Facility for occasional boarding.
