The Bishopsgate School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHEE, French, Latin. In Years 7 and 8 the school teaches a more skills-based Pre-Senior Baccalaureate curriculum, alongside the core ISEB curriculum subjects (maths, English, science, French, Latin) and scholarship curricula. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups and visiting speakers. Forest School for the youngest pupils and Outdoor Education Camps from Year 3 upwards. Outdoor Learning for all years to promote cross-curricular learning and ‘Bishopsgate Learning Skills’. The Bishopsgate Award encourages Years 7 and 8 to engage in new skills, service, adventure, and global awareness.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music and languages throughout, for DT, art and humanities from Year 3, and for most subjects from Year 5.

Sport at Bishopsgate School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in golf, judo, netball, swimming.

The Arts at Bishopsgate School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama is part of the co-curriculum and is sometimes incorporated into other subjects. All pupils learn an instrument in class and two-thirds take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. Annual whole school Arts Fest. The school offers each pupil over 5 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
