Bruern Abbey Preparatory School is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys between the ages of 8 and 13 years with dyslexia, dyspraxia or other learning difficulties. Boarding from Year 4 for the 70% of pupils who board. All are weekly or flexi boarders. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is the junior division of Bruern Abbey School, an all-through school to age 16, and is a member of the Bellevue Education group. Bruern Abbey Preparatory School fees are £12,151 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

The Bruern Abbey Preparatory School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and also includes PSHEE, study skills, touch typing, French. Maths and English account for over half the timetable, and other subjects are taught through a thematic skills-based curriculum. Reading is a curricular subject. The school specialises in helping children with specific learning difficulties and has CReSTeD accreditation as a dyslexia specialist provision school. Most needs are met in class so there is limited withdrawal for remedial support. There is extensive use of IT to help learning. The school offers each child a handful of extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Sport at Bruern Abbey Preparatory School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Representative teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Bruern Abbey Preparatory School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and some take extra-curricular instrument lessons. Choir. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 8.15am to 6.10pm. Minibus service to London at the beginning and the end of the week.
