School fundamentals

Clifton College Prep & Pre-Prep is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (60%/40%) between the ages of 3 and 13 years. Boarding from Year 4 for the 10% of pupils who board. 80% are full boarders and 20% are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has an academically selective admissions policy from Year 3. It is the prep school to Clifton College, an all-through school to age 18. Clifton College Prep & Pre-Prep fees range from £5,065 (Rec) to £8,820 per term (2025/26). Full boarding fees range from £12,435 to £14,735 per term. Fees include VAT and lunches.

Clifton College Prep & Pre-Prep has three classes per year and an average class size of 20 pupils.

At the end of Year 8 most Prep pupils move up to Clifton College.

The Clifton College Prep & Pre-Prep curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHE, French, Spanish, German, Mandarin, Latin. CReSTeD recognised dyslexia facility. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers, Forest school to Year 3, and residential trips, including outdoor adventure, from Year 3.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music and languages throughout, for all subjects except English, history, geography and RS from Year 4, and for all subjects from Year 6.

Sport at Clifton College Prep & Pre-Prep

There are five games sessions per week, taking up 20% of curricular time. Including PE and swimming, sport is 29% of the curriculum. School is one of the 50 prep schools with the most extensive sports offers in the UK. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in hockey, netball, rugby 7s, skiing.

The Arts at Clifton College Prep & Pre-Prep

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and nearly all take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. 80-strong choir, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. The school is one of the top 50 UK prep schools for the breadth of its creative and performing arts extra-curriculum.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 7.30am to 6.00pm. Facility for occasional boarding.
