Gordonstoun Junior School is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (50%/50%) between the ages of 4.5 and 13 years. Boarding from Year 4 for the 20% of pupils who board. All are full boarders. The school has an academically selective admissions policy. It is the junior division of Gordonstoun, an all-through school to age 18. Gordonstoun Junior School fees range from £5,149 (Rec) to £6,990 per term (2024/25). Full boarding fees are £11,220 per term. Fees exclude VAT but include lunches.

The Gordonstoun Junior School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHE, ‘International and Spiritual Citizenship’, French, Latin, Greek. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 6. The school is a member of the Round Square Organisation, a network of 150 schools worldwide committed to practical, cross-cultural and collaborative education, based on six IDEALS (International, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, Service). Outdoor challenge is a significant part of the experience, and the school has its own ocean-going yacht.

Specialist teachers for music, art, languages, computing, drama and sport throughout, and for most subjects from Primary 5.

Sport at Gordonstoun Junior School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Primary 3.

The Arts at Gordonstoun Junior School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Primary 3. Three choirs and one or two instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 8.20am to 5.30pm or 8.00pm for the older pupils. Minibus service.
