Leavers' destinations

At the end of Year 6, two thirds of pupils at Laxton Junior School move up to Oundle School, the senior school. Other pupils move on to one of the Stamford Endowed Schools, Oakham School, or Kimbolton School.

The Laxton Junior School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and also includes PSHE, reasoning, French, Spanish, Latin. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Sport at Laxton Junior School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in orienteering.

The Arts at Laxton Junior School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils, as is drama from Year 3. All pupils learn an instrument in class and 80% take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Choir, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. Each pupil may participate in up to 10 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
