School fundamentals

Moreton Prep is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (40%/60%) between the ages of 3 months and 11 years. Boarding from Year 3 for the 10% of pupils who board. All are full boarders. It is a Ecumenical school, open to all faiths and none. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is the junior division of Moreton Hall School, an all-through school to age 18. Moreton Prep fees range from £3,968 (Rec) to £5,635 per term (2024/25). Full boarding fees range from £8,875 to £9,133 per term. Fees exclude VAT but include lunches.

Average class size

Moreton Prep has one class per year and an average class size of 11 pupils.

Leavers' destinations

At the end of Year 6, most Moreton Prep girls move up to Moreton Hall. Boys typically move on to a Oswestry School, Ellesmere College, or Packwood Haugh. In September 2021 Moreton Hall started to provide for boys up to Year 8 for Common Entrance.

The Moreton Prep curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHE, French, Spanish, Mandarin, Latin. Topic-based projects for geography, history and RE in pre-prep. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs. Debating is a particular feature of the extra-curricular programme.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and a residential trip in Year 6. School participates in the Eco Schools programme and has Green Flag Status.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music, drama, art, DT, computing, and languages throughout, for science, and RE from Year 3, and for most subjects from Year 5.

Sport at Moreton Prep

Three games sessions per week, as well as PE and swimming. School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Representative teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Moreton Prep

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and up to half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Two choirs and some instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care from 8.00am to 6.00pm.
