Boarding from Year 3 for the 10% of pupils who board. 25% are full boarders and 75% are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is a standalone prep school, not tied to any one senior school. Walhampton School fees range from £3,955 (Rec) to £7,465 per term (2024/25). Full boarding fees range from £8,965 to £10,565 per term. Fees exclude VAT and lunches.

The Walhampton School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHEE, French, German. Topic-led curriculum to Year 2, combined humanities to Year 5, and cross-curricular STEM from Year 5. School has a CReSTeD recognised dyslexia facility. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers, a weekly double outdoor learning lesson to Year 5 and Expeditions Week for Years 4 upwards. The ‘SPARK’ curriculum is a formalised after-school and Saturday morning enrichment and activities programme.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport and music throughout, for languages, drama, DT, computing and art from Year 3 and for all subjects from Year 5.

Sport at Walhampton School

4, 5 or 6 games and one PE session per week from Year 3. School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Riding and sailing are a particular specialism. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in sailing.

The Arts at Walhampton School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils, as is drama from Year 3. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. The school is one of the top 50 UK prep schools for the breadth of its creative and performing arts extra-curriculum.

Wraparound care from 7.30am to 6.30pm. Minibus service to the station.
