Garden House School is an independent prep day school for boys and girls (40%/60%) between the ages of 3 and 11 years. Boys and girls are taught separately from Reception. The school has an academically selective admissions policy from Year 4. It is a standalone prep school, not tied to any one senior school. Garden House School fees range from £9,150 (Rec) to £9,800 per term (2024/25). Fees exclude VAT but include lunches.

Leavers' destinations

Destinations for Garden House School boys are one of 15 London day schools, and 5 boarding schools. 80% of boys leave at 8+ to go on to London prep schools, mainly Sussex House (16% of all boy leavers), Westminster Under School (13%), St Paul’s Juniors (11%), Wetherby Prep (9%), Westminster Cathedral Choir School (8%). Ludgrove is the most popular boarding choice (9%). The school estimates that two thirds of its boy leavers eventually end up at Eton, St Paul’s, Winchester, Harrow and Westminster Schools. The Garden House School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHE, reasoning, study skills, current affairs, French, Latin. Each pupil may participate in over 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 3.

Specialist teachers for sport, music, drama and languages, throughout, and for art from Year 2.

Sport at Garden House School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in swimming.

The Arts at Garden House School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Ballet and dance up to Year 2. All pupils learn an instrument in class and 80% take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Five choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. Each pupil may participate in up to 10 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

No wraparound care as such, but with early drop-off and after school clubs, the school day can extend from 8.15am to 5.30pm. Minibus service.
